Absolutely loved it. From the comedy of Carrell to the hotness of Hathaway to the awesomeness of having both The Rock AND Khali in the same movie.

Very very good choice Normy, i had seen this in the Cinema's when it came out. I give it a 10/10 for me, compared to the other Get Smart's this one topped the icing off for the final installment.

Yes I agree.  This is one of the few "reboot, remake whatevers" that was worth watching.
I am a very big fan of the original series and was really nervous about how they'd handle it.

Carrell did a great job as Max because he didn't try to be Don Adams doing Max.  He did his own version of Max without pissing on the legacy.  Bloody well done.
(And I have much love for the Rock too)

I watched [Rec] today.

This is a Spanish movie.  There has recently been a US remake called Quarrantine.  I enjoyed Quarrantine and I enjoyed this just as much.  It's funny, sometimes when a movie is called a "remake" it's someone elses interpretation of a movie.  But this one was almost a frame by frame remake.

If you're not a fan of reading subtitles, then Quarratine will do you nicely.

He was doing Michael Scott doing Max. Tongue

But i enjoyed the movie too. It was actually on Foxtel last night.

Last Watched:

Superman Returns

I try and not let tv networks dictate what i watch, however sometimes when there is a movie on that i wouldn't mind watching.... i'll opt to watch the dvd (saves putting up with commercial breaks). I only watched it a few months back, but felt like watching it again.

I was going to buy the Watchmen dvd, but i'll hold off until the local release of the directors cut / ultimate collectors edition (if they ever get released here).

You'll get no argument from me on that, Returns is RUBBISH

Last bought and watched

Watchmen (Blu ray): Couldn't be arsed to get an image. I like it as much as I did the first time I saw it, can't complain. Question is why didn't we get the directors cut though?

I do agree, it's barely better than Superman IV  Cheesy

I loved it the first few times i saw it at the cinema. Looking back i was more happy with the fact that a Superman movie was made (and i got to experience the Superman march in a cinema environment   Grin).

After the dvd came out, i started seeing issues with it, the main one being the films length. It could have been 20-30 minutes shorter, the storyline was so-so making the experience of watching it for the 4334234238th time not really worthwhile (in terms of watching straight through, without taking breaks).

Then getting into the acting, Kate Bosworth... really irriates me and in hindsight was a horrible choice as Lois Lane.

Again though i think it's a sign of the times, we've been spoilt with many other comic movies that built on the original template set by Superman many years ago. Now most people expect more flashy powers, outlandish villians etc - Superman despite his abilities, looks like Richmond's Nathan Brown.... vs Brisbane's Jonathan Brown (epic burn!!!!  Cheesy). In the case of Superman Returns, it tried to capture the magic of the original, while being influenced with what made Spider-man a hit.... and doesn't come off as well.

I watched this today

I was quite impressed to be honest.  It had some cool twists and turns and wasn't too long.
Hayden was good too.

Have you seen the previews for The Pacific? It looks pretty good but seems like it will be more dramatic than BOB.

Last Purchased:

Kickboxer (DVD)

R4 dvd, knew it was coming out a few weeks ago... got a little excited then, VERY excited now that i have it. I consider my dvd collection 98% complete now, it's practically 99% as i have EVERY movie i've ever loved from childhood through to adulthood, however ONE title still eludes me (i have an alternate copy of it, but i'd love it to come out in R4).

Just saw it then. If it's half as good as BoB it'll still be a masterpiece. I'm fine with it being more dramatic too.

Doesn't have the kind of actors BoB did though. That might be the let down.

Season 5 is supposed to come out this month. Hopefully it does and hopefully it's $16 like the first 4.

Hope it does, but it may have to get played out on GO (Channel 9's new entertainment channel) first  Undecided. It should have had a late August / early September date (this was back when Channel 9 had originally scheduled it to play out on Monday nights from the end of June onwards).

It may not get a cheap price upon release, but it wouldn't take long for it to be at the $15 - $25 price that the other seasons regularly get reduced to.

Also for those skeptical about the show and unwilling to check out the dvds - ABC2 will be playing the show starting with season 1, in September.
