Watched it tonight, it was alright, i liked it, not something i think is rave worthy but defiantly didn't mind it. I think this one was the case of i had read a little too much about it before hand so some of the mystery didn't really get me if that makes sense. The first hour or so at least i thought was quite brutal. But i can't really compare it too much, at least French wise, since the few "Brutal" French films i've seen in the past few years are limited to Irreversible, I Stand Alone and High Tension. I think i will have to wait till I see Inside (whenever it shows up in the mail) but Irreversible is still to me the most brutal of French brutal films i've seen. The smashed head scene alone is quite disturbing in Irreversible.

Thankfully with Inside i haven't really read too much about it, but i think Martyrs was a case of looking a little too much into it before hand and maybe thats why it didn't fully get me.

Watched this on the weekend and really liked it. It was like watching 2 movies in one. It really took a step in a direction that I wasn't expecting. Have really enjoyed the recent flood of French Horror. Hollywood or mainstream horror has really dropped the ball BIGTIME over the last few years. PG13 ratings, soul less remakes and for F*ck sake how many Sh*tty Saw movies can we put up with.

Watched this afternoon

The Chaser

So I had heard some people comparing it to Oldboy, I think there wrong and I would compare it to Fincher's Se7en or another Korean film Memories of Murder more than I would Oldboy. Actually it's closer to Fincher's Se7en. Only a slight tad more depressing i thought then Se7en. Its a good watch and I would recommend it to those interested. No means perfect but i honestly liked it.

The two leads are commanding and engrossing to watch, you really do find yourself wanting to see something horrible happen to the antagonist of the film. It is a completely solid thriller as a whole and it does build to its pay off quite well. <And no this isn't Oldboy style of pay off I mean, i just meant it builds to it climax quite well>

One thing, is it just me or does every Korean film portray their cops as pretty much inept? Much like Memories of Murder this one also depicts the police force as somewhat inept.

Sounds good to me. I'll "acquire" it now. Smiley

Watched this night before last. Great movie. Smart movie. I hear they're talking about a sequel. I'm up for that.

Also bought this.

Don't laugh, but I watched this and didn't find it too bad. It's not a chick flick at all and I think anyone with who has a pet dog can relate to it but jeez it has such a sad ending.

Haha, I came very close let me tell you. Sh*t that happens in movies usually doesn't get to me though... probably because I have a soft spot for dogs.

I can't believe how many guys have said the same thing to me about this movie.  I see it as a chick flick (It's that bloody Jennifer Anisten, she just SCREAMS chick flick) and I avoid them at all costs, yet so many people, including yourself now, have said this movie isn't a chick flick.  I will wait for this one to come to foxtel and catch it then.

Lol yeah I avoid chick flicks as well but I just don't think this is one. Probably because the main story is about the dog as opposed to the romance. I can see how some people can categorise it as one though.

The Orphanage is a quality movie. I liked the ending... it's happy in a creepy kind of way.

Watched...

Confused the F*ck out of me... I honestly didn't get some parts at all and don't know if I could endure it again to figure it out. It's quite a slow paced movie, seems like nothing much goes on. The only really positive going for it is the quality acting, especially from Hoffman.

Finally got around to starting this tonight . . .

. . . after a friend got it for me on a trip to the UK (and of course, in that time it actually got a local release).

Bloody good so far.  John Simm cements his position as one of my alltime favourite actors, even when playing a thoroughly unlikeable douchebag.

Still undecided on this. Don't hate it or love it. But i do know that it wouldn't be nearly as good if it wasn't for Jackie Earle Haley.

A lot of people I talk to say the same thing they don't love or hate it. Personally I love it, seen it at the cinema and really enjoyed it but wasn't sure if I would enjoy it as much when I seen it again, now own it on DVD and have re-watched it a couple of times and it's still just as good even got the motion comic DVD.

IMO the best superhero movie of recent times (I liked it better than the Dark Knight).

Watchmen was OK but the prostetic make-up was BAD, Nixon looked like Sh*t!

The directors cut went for so long as well, too long IMO.

Lol yeah, it's so strange. I knew the ending as well but it got to me...

On another note, I didn't know Star Trek was out already! Must get it... didn't see it in the cinemas... not a fan of the original but it's been reccomended to me by a few people now, both new and old fans.

Never been a Trek fan in any of it's forms over the years, but that film totally ruled the Summer Blockbuster roost this year.  An absolute blast - the only minor gripes are completely forgiven due to the chemistry of the cast and the great pacing.  Can't recommend it enough, from a non-Trekkie, and can't wait to see it again on blu-ray.

I've never cared for Star Trek and even I'm interested in the movie.

I enjoyed it. If i have spare bandwidth at the end of the month i may download the first part of the miniseries.
