One of my best mates getting a job in Melbourne with some big IT company, I'm really happy for him because he's been wanting to get out of here for ages. Plus now I have somewhere to stay for when I go on my regular Melbourne trips.

I wish I could live in the shower ala Cosmo Kramer. They certainly are great, they're warm, relaxing and you gotta have good pressure in there. Can't stand a weak shower pressure.

The one i have to use is weak. When i first got in it i thought it was broken. Could barely feel it. I've gotten used to it now though. Showers are good on a rainy day when you get wet.

The fact that I paid my $2 for the internet at this cafe and instead of receiving 21 minutes, I'm currently at one hour and counting, with still 21 minutes on the clock. Suckers!
Unfortunately I've got to go now, hopefully it F*cks up like this again next time I'm here.

Baths and continually filling it up with boiling hot water.
Driving to Banff to Jasper which I did yesterday. Seriously unbelievable landscapes. I walked on a glacier, climbed a mountain in the snow, was wowed by emerald and turqoise lakes, and spotted a bunch of elk. Truly magnificent.

The last three days. Leechbabe and I made an agreement with Annie that every school holidays she would get a three day "alone time" holiday with either mum or dad, where we would basically go on a trip with her to somewhere special, and she would get some time away from her sister (and the get some of that attention that her sister's disability takes away.) The first time was with Mum up to Queensland, this time because Granddad is ill we decided to stay somewhere local. After some searching (Including a brush with the Big4 caravan park that's made it into the local newspaper.) we decided on the Victoria Hotel in Little Collins St. I'm a sucker for Melbourne's architecture from the 1800's to the 1940's, so staying in a 150 year old hotel was kind of a thrill, even if it's a little run down. First night - Walking through the city to find a pizza place, settling on City Pizza in Elizabeth st. Then waking up at 1130 when Annie decided to throw up in the bathroom. I guess garlic pizza and donuts don't mix. Next Day - early rise, Spent some time introducing Annie to the concept of a hairdryer, which she then insisted on using everytime she had a shower. Later McDonald's for brekkie, buy Magpies scarf and rainbow gloves for her (No accounting for taste) , then off to the Museum. Many dinosaurs, antiques and Polynesian canoes later we head back to the hotel, with a stop off for cleaning stuff for the bathroom (I'm too proud to leave it to housekeeping) and a small expensive stop off at the TVB shop on Russell St for Annie's new Hello Kitty doll, and Heidi's Totoro bus tissue holder (Heidi likes having things to put things into, and the bus is just too cute). I then got on my hands and knees and scrubbed vomit off the bathroom floor while Annie tried to feed her doll strawberries. This is the life. Decide to buy gifts for the whole family, so I picked up a t-Sh*t for Leechbabe at Route 66. The decision on design was made by Annie, who chose the Buxom Pirate "Vessel of Sin" tee. After which, we headed off to Greater Union for Wall-E. Inbetwixt all this Annie and I would just wander around the city and look for cool alleyways or malls. Once Pixar had weaved their magic, it was back to the hotel. We sat down a read Annie's bedtime stories, and I broke it to her that Grandad's very ill, and won't be getting better (We've been reading kids books about coping with death to prepare them for this) Annie handled it far better than her father did. While Annie slept I listened to Season 1 of The Ricky Gervais Show on XFM. A good day. Today - Woke up early and grabbed brekkie. Searched around Melbourne for a good t-shirt, ended up settling on a Hell Boy tee from Minotaur. Wished I was into WOW or Death Note, cause there was a ton of stuff for them, but I'm ethically opposed to wearing t-shirts for things you don't actively support. Picked up some sunglasses for Heidi and once again wandered and wondered at some of the beautiful older buildings in the CBD. I've been working in this city for almost a decade, but never really wandered around like a tourist. Eye opening at the very least. Anyway, we packed our things and got on the train back to Greensborough. When we got home, we gave Heidi and Leechbabe their presents, and Leechbabe told me she'd left some new socks in the computer room for me. When I get there I find Dexter Season 2, Generation Kill (The book) and the Skullcandy Death Magnetic headphones. Life is good.

In a similar situation, it makes me happy in the pants when I'm at the library almost every day and just as the time is about to expire, the little pop-up things comes on the screen and says: "Would you like to extend your session by 15 minutes?" It happened to me 4 times in one session once and I don't even have to pay a cent for the net here.
