How about those Pies hey... almost looked like they could've been sitting in 8th possy but pulled the win and are sitting semi comfortably in 6th with Richmond on Friday night.

Top 8 is going to be interesting.

Certainly will be, high as Hawthorn currently are... i'm still expecting/anticipating a tumble to 6-8th or just outside it. Not very optimistic, i am pleased we are going well... i just don't want to aim high :P

well, this is the one good thing about the new forums- some of these pages that u didn't read for a week and then lost track of have been reset...

i'm pissed off at the footy this week. people on other forums are suggesting what great games friday night and last night were- i could not disagree more. both were games that were not only ruined by umpires, but they were decided by umpires. last night, freo vs eagles- all but 2 of the 3rd quarter goals, when the match was in the balance, were the direct result of free kicks or fifty metre penalties. we saw a number of free kicks and 50s given for innocuous things with the umpires trying to assert their authority- then they miss a series of high tackles and head high bumps!  it happened all through the match- but when west coast were 11 points down and lecras had his head ripped off 20 metres out for no free kick- that would've turned the momentum.

and don't even get me started on friday night, cos that was even worse.

on a lighter note... how well is launceston celtic going in both the wna supercoach and dream team competitions?!

i will say that i'm usually one that cops heat for not being a 'real' supporter because i'm liable to bag my team when they suck. for example, when we lost to hawthorn and brisbane, it was cos we sucked. when we got beat by geelong we were outplayed and outcoached.  its actually very rare that i bag umpires!

of course there's the factor that u don't expect people to remember who u go for when you've only mentioned it once before!

Pretty sure I heard boos when Josh Carr (traitor) was awarded the Glendenning Medal.

Preposterous!

Of course, Dockers fans would NEVER boo an eagle for winning the award now would they?

When it was undeserved and the decision.

I just like how they all cry til they are blue and yellow... blue and yellow'er than they already are, yet they'll dish it out when it happens.

Who says it was undeserved?

Bah, get back to me when Freo and Port play a grand final together

Was it me (and it probably was, loz) but was the umpiring in a few games this week pretty ordinary.

Western Bulldogs vs. St Kilda, Collingwood vs. Carlton from what I saw.

We won it 5 times, we won it 5 times. In Istanbul we won it 5 times!

Anyone follow the VFL at all?! I know this is the AFL thread but we can have a bit of VFL chat if anyone follows it.

I've kind of become a Frankston supporter although I live in the City Of Casey. Mainly cause I know a few of the blokes that play at Frankston.

Just putting this out there, but did anyone else notice how bad the 'Gabba surface looked about 3 weeks ago, with all really dodgy looking patches, now seeing it on Footy Classified from this week it looks a lot better. Seems weird as it doesn't look like a total relay of turf.

So yeah, just putting it out there.

Ah, give me the good old days of the VFA when the thugs roamed free, and greats like Fred Cook, Phil Cleary, "Jack" Marshall and the like ruled with the proverbial iron fist!!!
This forum is the scapegoat for the whole damn machine. Sheeeeeeeeee-it...

The Dreamteam finals are set and ready to go, Bring it on I say. I have a few trades left to make sure Ill get the best 22 on the park.

Didn't go to well in tipping thought, going to have to take some risks if im going to pull off the victory.

Qlders Time again  :D

Brown, Jonathan Brown. Had 12 scoring shots, but only converted 6. Imagine if he repeated his efforts against Carlton

Given the pressure of the game, especially the physicality that the Kangaroos brought to the game, I'd like to think the game wasn;t as good because both teams were very physical (injuries to Selwood who recovered and Mcgrath whosne gaaawn for season) that brought down the level of skill in the game.

And I did applaud the Roos off after the game, being a pretty big fan of theirs. Best of luck for the rest of season Roo supports here at WNA.

Drama drama, never ending drama with West Coast this year. A real shame. They were the club I 'followed' as a kid before falling in love with the Lions in 97 (BANDWAGONER!!!!!!!  :D ) Hope this Sh*t can get away from West Coast. I think they've had enough crap for one year.

Early this season people were saying the Roos and Lions were going to be crap this season. With Aka, Voss gone, Lions I believe were favourites for the spoon. The question was raised after a great pre-season and openning few rounds. Then the seven round winless rounds, and we were back to favourites, Brown is overrated and is crap, started to appear.

He's now battling for the Coleman medal, and might even shock in Brownlow medal contention (Not saying he will win, just saying he could be a contender now). My question to the WNA AFL fans, if the Lions that are playing now, use this form next year, gel more, perform at this consistancy and Jonathan Brown barring his injury curse and hit this stride, where can Brisbane be? Top 4? Top 8? Or still years behind in rebuilding?

I ask because I'm interested in peoples opinion. I don't consider meself to be totally one-eyed, I'm actually quite tolerant of the other clubs..... just not certain supporters
