Chris Benoit

It has been confirmed that Chris Benoit will be removed from the video game.

The WWE instructed THQ and Yuke's to remove him from the game after the deaths of Chris Benoit, Nancy Benoit, and Daniel Benoit. The WWE did not want any negative that would come from releasing a video game that would showcase Chris Benoit.

Downloads

THQ has announced that they will be providing wrestlers for download for the Playstation 3 version.

That's a welcomed addition because the ability to download wrestlers who didn't make the original cut will extend the life of the game until the next version of Smackdown vs Raw comes out.

Recent departures like Sabu, Chris Benoit, and Rob Van Dam (if he doesn't make the final cut) could possibly be available for download. Plus, newer guys like Cody Runnels who won't make the final cut should be available as well.

Every year, Smackdown vs Raw 2008 has a limited amount of spaces to devote to legends. Now, they can provide downloads for all of the legends that have appeared in the game.

Don't know why you're asking which character Booker will be. He has been king Booker for over a year now.

And Nitro will be Morrison because its just a name change essentially if they can't be bothered to alter the model.

Cant wait for the release of this game i remember reading somewhere that it was going to be released in November.

THQ has announced that they will be providing wrestlers for download for the Playstation 3 version.

About time they added this feature to the game hopefully you will also be able to share and download CAWS.

Being able to download characters is a nice feature but I'm still renting before I buy. Still not sure about it.

The download superstars is a quality feature, specially if they are made by THQ and what not, not just download other peoples made guys.

Dodgy list.

Snitsky is in the confirmed and rumoured list. Sabu was fired ages ago, so he has no chance of being featured. RVD hasn't been fired and he's a mainstay in these SD games, so they'll leave his model in. Trinity was fired, she's no chance, nor did she even wrestle much (if at all) on ECW for them to get an attire and moveset off her.

Doubtful Divas like Kristal, Michelle and Extreme Expose would make it. They haven't even been wrestling this year (bar Michelle's few appearances on SD and winning that open battle royal on RAW), nor featured predominantly, nor were they in the last game for them to be carried over.

What a contradiction to the news above that. Benoit won't appear in any capacity. Not in the game preset, not available for download, nothing. They told THQ to get rid of him.

Sabu's fired, so he has nothin to with the 'E anymore, hence won't be downloadable unfortunately.

RVD was in the "rumoured list", so why would his name be tossed around for extra downloadables?

The extra DLC will just be the mid/lower-card stars that get left off. The Cody Rhodes', the Moore's, the Funaki's, Noble's etc. that aren't the big names in the 'E at the moment.

Oh, and is there any news on if the 360 owners get extra downloadable stuff aswell?! Or just PS3 people?

bare in  mind the cut off is always just after wrestlemania. so there's every chance that sabu and rvd will be in there, very little chance that deuce and domino will be in there, shannon moore won't make it, john morrison will probably be johnny nitro (they have a history of not changing character names late, king booker is an example from last year). the fact that khali is now champ will make no impact on whether he's in the game or not.

I heard SummerSlam was a cut-off date for something aswell? Perhaps that for the creation of the new superstar's moves?!

Umaga was lucky to make last year's since he only appeared just after that year's WM.

They don't put CAW parts for particular wrestlers in the CAW section. You gotta make everything yourself (bar Kane's old top and a few other attires from years ago). But current attires and parts, no.

Benoit's shirt logos etc. will be removed as that's all a part of what THQ was instructed to remove.

Everything Benoit-related will be removed. His model, his music, his tron, his moveset (in particular the crossface, for i assume a basic headbutt will still remain for other superstars, and the sharpshooter is used by others aswell), his taunts, everything.

Especially seeing as though screenshots were already released a few weeks ago. They wouldn't start making a whole new model for a new wrestler, when obviously their set list has already been finalised and the gameplay's already near the completion.

They'd just save that person for the next year's game.

Thing is though, there's now 2 different crossfaces in the game and many different throat taunts.

There's the crossface special, where he's the standing position and then grabs the arm to tuck in between his legs, falls, to the ground, then focuses on the head... And there's another crossface in which the 'opponent down, head' grapple that was added last game that skips the arm between the legs motion, and has a different animation for the pressure being applied during the submission tap-out thingamajig.

His special will be removed, leaving the generic ground crossface (which somehow a lot of other stars received in their sets last game, even though they'd have never done it before).


His throat taunt is very distinctively different from the other throat taunts in the game. It's easy to tell it's Benoit's - thus it'll be removed, mark my words.

This isn't a straight up wrestling game, it's a WWE game.

In WWE land, the crossface was known world-wide for being Benoit's finishing move. People still know the move is Benoit's even if it's renamed. It's the same animation that's been used for the last 4-5 SD games.
