Bathurst is on again and I was looking forward to sitting down... waking up and watching all day. But going out with some mates tonight for a possible all nighter.

Top 10 Shootout just finished, halfway through the rain ruins it and Greg Murphy manages to snag another pole.

As usual, I'm a Ford guy, but always been a fan of Lowndes way back to when he first showed up in a Holden.

So I'd like to see one of the Fords win, but seeing the Lowndes/Skaife combo together again. That'd be cool to see win it.

Also, a nice crash or three.

One thing that has annoyed me though, the insertion of CGI advertising. Norton and Bigpond signs that are above the track. Post holding it up. Dunno, frustrates me.

That and the addition of the word Bathurst under the Mount Panorama sign on the top of the mountain. As if to say in case you don't know it's Bathurst.

Looking forward to watching it, would love to see SVG on the top step, however will be looking out for GT with Percat (excellent talent).

Tough weekend of sport, with Football starting and Bathurst, sadly doesn't leave much room for watching the Japanese F1 GP.

I've preached about my loathing for Crompton and his knack of he and only he discovering Sh*t, speaking about stuff etc.

Then a snippet of the race I caught a moment ago with Car 88 and it's battery trouble.

Crompton starts going on about it running out of fuel and how he did the numbers and it's out of fuel or however he went on about it. Then you hear Mark Larkham jump in about it being the battery. So Crompton comes back with well yes that's right, doing the numbers with his math, they still had a few more laps before running out.

It's stupid, but it makes me laugh and bugs me all at the same time.

How was that fire? Bloody awesome site to see.

Wow. Just saw the footage and just wow.

The way he turned into the Edwards and Rossi, almost like something was wrong before he got hit. But then to be hit and have the helmet ripped off.

Not a good week for motor racing.

So Targa High Country was a couple of weeks ago, check out the Lambo on fire in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XM3drzq4BWE

The whole event was a great success though, Targa Tasmania is looking at around 400 drivers next year.

V8 Supercars just got the shake up of a lifetime. We have a third manufacturer as of next year. The almighty Nissan!

heres the article...

Quote

Nissan set to shake up the V8 Supercars competition by taking the battle to Holden and Ford in 2013

Nissan has confirmed it will be on the V8 Supercars grid in 2013 with the powerhouse Japanese manufacturer announcing it will be racing out of the Kelly Racing stable.

In an historic inclusion which V8 Supercars claim will bulletproof the future of the sport, Nissan have agreed to re-join the series in 2013 in a move which will inject hundreds of thousand of dollars into the sport and place a wedge between the iconic battle between Holden and Ford.

The bombshell entry will also give several lowly-placed teams the ammunition to take on the likes of Holden backed team Vodafone, with the manufacturer to pull out the cheque book in a bid to upset their manufacturing rivals.

Made possible by the Car of the Future program headed by Holden legend Mark Skaife, the coup has been three years in the making.

"This opens up a whole new chapter for V8 Supercars," Skaife said of Nissan joining the sport. "The sport and the brand have been so successful over such a long period of time with today’s news reinforcing the direction of the business, coupled with imminent international expansion to multiple destinations globally.

"Nissan has clearly acknowledged V8 Supercars as a major component of their future plans within the Australian car market and motorsport internationally. V8 Supercars will deliver on their expectations.

"There is no doubting the entry of more manufacturers now that Nissan has taken the first step to recognise what the relationship will do for their brand."

The model in which Nissan will run in the V8 Supercars will be an all new sedan which is to hit the Australian market in the near future. Under Car of the Future rules, cars must have four doors and will race with rear wheel drive and a five-litre V8 engine.

News Limited also understands the announcement, made by V8 Supercars and Nissan at Crown Casino in Melbourne, will be the first of many.

Several other manufacturers, including Chrysler, have been in talks with the fast growing series and are also expected to join the Aussie bred fight.

Both Holden and Ford have welcomed the new competition with Nissan’s inclusion likely to  help address the uneven split which this year saw 17 Commodores taken on 11 Falcons.

Holden backed driver Jamie Whincup won the series.

Nissan were last in the series in 1992, with the manufacturer ironically supporting Skaife, the man who helped court them back after a 20 year absence.

Car of the Future has helped make Nissan’s inclusion possible with a host of control parts to be used next year.

Nissan will be seen on the V8 Supercars grid in 2012, as the supplier of the safety car at each event.

I F**k on first dates.

People tend to forget the reason why the V8's had to change to Commodore v Falcon. The comp nearly died. But the time is right to bring new constructors in.

For sure. I remember about 15 years ago talks of Toyota joining and how that ended up null and void.

You can bet there will be tighter controls on the engines this time around.

Nissan dont make a skyline anymore, the V35s n V36s were badged as Infinitys and sell to the Luxury market. Was hoping wed see the V8 GTR they use in FIA GT racing but be interesting to see what the Ultima does.

Shame they cant put the V8s to shame with the little 2L turbos this time around though :P

In my opinion, I think this will open the door for Toyota and possibly Dodge, if not others like Mazda or even Mitsubushi

Yeah, I'd like to see one more added, just so it has that nice figure of 4 manufacturers.

I'd also like to see multiple classes racing at Bathurst like the old days!  ;D

That just won't happen though.
